Job Summary
Curro is establishing a talent pool of experienced Facilities Managers for current and future opportunities across schools in Gauteng, the Western Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal. The Facilities Manager will ensure that the school’s buildings, infrastructure, grounds and support services are safe, compliant, well maintained and able to support the effective delivery of teaching and learning.
Job Description
- Financial management: Prepare and manage facilities-related budgets; identify cost-saving opportunities; evaluate quotations and expenditure in line with procurement policies.
- Operations and maintenance: Manage work orders and the Facilities Management system; coordinate maintenance of buildings, grounds, sports facilities and infrastructure; conduct routine inspections; monitor utilities usage; ensure the campus remains safe, functional and presentable.
- Risk management: Ensure compliance with statutory requirements; maintain certificates, registers and inspection records; enforce contractor compliance with health and safety and safeguarding requirements.
- Staff management: Lead and supervise facilities, maintenance and grounds employees; allocate work and monitor performance.
- Service provider management: Manage service-level agreements and contractor performance; coordinate hard, soft and business support services; verify completed work and address poor workmanship or delays.
Key Skills / Requirements
- Grade 12 qualification and valid driver’s license.
- 3–5 years’ experience in Facilities Management, property operations or building maintenance.
- Experience in a school or education environment advantageous.
- Previous supervisory experience with staff and contractors.
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office and facilities/procurement systems.
- Practical understanding of buildings, services and facilities operations.
- Strong planning, organising and prioritisation skills.
- Commercial awareness with budget management capability.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
