Two Mountains Burial Services is looking for Individuals to fill in permanent vacancy of General Manager –Burial Services reporting to Chief Executive Officer. The vacancy is based in Park Town Head Office.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

· Ensuring that each Branch is self-supporting and profitable.

· Ensuring that training is available and adequate for all staff at a branch such that that the standard of service and reputation of TM is upheld. This must include sensitivity training for dealing with bereaved families

· Providing an annual plan including an annual budget for BS.

· Providing the required operational reports to the CEO

· As a member of the TM Exco, providing all the decision-making inputs regarding service provision that contributes to the success of proposed new operations and branches.

· In collaboration with Marketing and with inputs from branches and Financial Services analyse potential new markets for BS and make reasoned proposals for expansion or modification of services

· In the event of the BS component of TM being franchised, manage all aspects of these franchised branches:

o On-boarding a new franchise team

o On-going provisioning TM systems and with TM-branded materials.

o Ensuring that franchise staff are correctly and adequately trained.

· Attendance and participation at all TM Exco meetings.

· Conducting regular operations meetings with Branch Managers/ Franchisees.

· Regularly inspecting each of the branches

· Monitoring burial Services Trends through appropriate Branch-level reporting.

· Setting the required KPAs and KPIs for branch managers and actively monitoring performance against these. This includes pro-actively intervening where required.

Business Strategy

· Responsible for planning, developing, implementing and monitoring of the BU strategy to ensure long-term organisational and financial viability of the business and to also ensure that the company remains the market leader in the funeral services sector.

· Ensure the BU strategy is aligned to that of the Group.

· Ensure the company fleet is maintained in best working condition thereby ensuring optimum uptime and availability.

· Implement appropriate controls for usage of vehicles, maintenance and fuel, implementing strong measures to prevent abuse of company’s fleet.

· Establish and maintain appropriate systems for measuring necessary aspects of operational management and development.

· Monitor measure and report on operational issues, opportunities and development plans and achievements within agreed timelines.

· Control and monitor the company's performance and finances in accordance with the BU budgets as approved by the Group CEO.

Promote and ensure the practice of good corporate governance in line with relevant policies, legislation and regulations governing the Group

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

· Bachelor’s Degree/ in Business Management or Administration.

· A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the funeral industry.

· Well-developed business networks.

· Strong knowledge and experience in the funeral services sector.

· Professional knowledge of corporate governance, as well as strategic planning and operational leadership experience.

· Strategic business planning and implementation management.

· Experience in people management, leading teams and motivating people.

· The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in Burial Services or related aspects of the funeral Services industry.

· Must have practical experience of setting up and managing a budget.

· Ideally must have some practical experience in using a project management approach to ensure business outcomes.

· The ideal candidate would have had practical exposure to the running of a franchise.
