 Qualifications required:



  • An Honours BCom or Accounting degree; and

  • A professional qualification (SAIPA/ CA(SA)/ ACCA/ CIMA) mandatory


 Skills and experience required:



  • At least 3-4 years’ financial management experience post articles

  • Completed articles mandatory

  • Experience in Higher Education advantageous

  • Processing accounting records up to trial balance experience essential

  • Preparation of complete, IFRS compliant consolidated annual financial statements and/ or annual report experience essential

  • Working knowledge of latest accounting standards and interpretations essential

  • Working knowledge of cross border (especially in Africa)  financial transactions advantageous

  • Should have interacted with different management levels in the organisation


 Competencies:          



  • Working knowledge of budgets (including forecasting and variance reporting) essential

  • Management of all entities’ general ledgers & trial balances

  • Ensure accuracy, validity and completeness of statutory and regulatory financial reporting for all entities

  • Monthly preparation of control account reconciliations

  • Review, analysis and improvement of finance processes and controls

  • Monthly and quarterly consolidated financial reporting and analysis

  • Financial year end processes including consolidated financial statement preparation and audit facilitation

  • Preparation and submission of all statutory tax returns on SARS e-filing i.e. VAT, PAYE and Income Tax for all entities


 Budget management including:



  • Budget preparation and monitoring for all entities

  • Maintenance of all entity budgets on ACCPAC

  • Working with the Channel Finance Controllers to ensure accurate forecasting and reporting on a monthly basis


Treasury function which incorporates:



  • Authorisation of online payments including Forex payments

  • Cash flow management including cash flow forecasting and analysis


 Salary administration which includes:



  • Monthly salary payments to faculty and staff

  • Statutory payroll tax returns and payments

  • Third party payments and reconciliation e.g. Pension Fund, Medical Aid


 General Financial administration:



  • Manage stakeholder financial related queries

  • ACCPAC & ACCPAC CRM super user and system support

  • Relationship management with key stakeholders
