Requirements:
• Grade 12.
• National Diploma in Safety Management.
• Trade/Blasting Certificate will be advantageous
• 3 years opencast mining experience.
• 3 years Chief Safety Officer experience.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and reviewing safety-related policies, procedures, control standards and measures, facilitating change processes to ensure continuous improvements to internal control systems, employee participation and management support.

Duties & Responsibilities
Job Description.

Ensure accidents and non conformance's are prevented and minimised by constantly promoting Health and Safety legislations and standards
Consult other departments with regards to Health and Safety.
Ensure SHERQ process mapping, risk profiles and control measures are implemented within the company such as risk management and assessment, HSE Management, Statutory compliance, Process Mapping, Audits, Report writing and analysis, legal appointments and register
Constant promotion of SHERQ and ensure standards are always adhered to
Halt operations if the working conditions do not meet SHERQ standards.
Compile the annual Safety Improvement Plan ensuring plans are in place for Operations
Coordinate and participate in Risk-Assessments for Operations.
Lead / Participate in Site Safety inspections and manage Safety coordinators / officers.

Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum Requirements.

Grade 12
National Diploma (NQF 6) in Safety Management
Lead Auditor Certificate (Health & Safety Standards as subscribed to by the Mine)
Competent A Certificate in Surface Mining.
Blasting Certificate or MQA equivalent qualification
5 years exp. Operational Safety and Risk .Management in a mining environment
At least 1 year exp in Supervisory / Middle Management level.
1 year operational ISO Standards exp & operational Integrated Systems exp
Proficient in MS Office and Isometrix. ***email***
